Engines are intricate marvels of engineering, composed of numerous components working together to power our vehicles. 2. UNDERSTANDING THE CRANKSHAFT   


The crankshaft is the backbone of the engine, converting the linear motion of the pistons into rotational motion. It is a large, heavy-duty shaft with multiple connecting rod journals and a central main journal. The pistons are connected to the crankshaft via the connecting rods, which convert the reciprocating motion of the pistons into a rotational force.

Rotational Power Generation: As the pistons move up and down in the cylinders, the connecting rods transfer their linear motion to the crankshaft. The crankshaft converts this linear motion into a rotary motion, transferring power to the transmission and, ultimately, to the wheels.

Counterweights and Balancing: The crankshaft is carefully balanced to minimize vibrations and ensure smooth engine operation.
